Felt flowers I

felt 01 web

The weather has been pretty miserable lately, so I’ve been doing a lot of indoor activities. I’ve had these gorgeous felt brooches made by DesignedByJane to my Pinterest for awhile now, and I decided to try to make something similar. It required that I learn how to do a chain stitch, and I found this wonderful tutorial here, and it really was effortless!

The felt I used was sub-par polyester felt, and the end result just isn’t as clean as Jane’s, but I’m happy with it nonetheless. I haven’t yet finished the back of it because I might want to put some tough interfacing on it first.

In the process of learning the chain stitch, I first made myself a new pincushion: felt 02 web

I’m pretty thrilled that I’ve finally figured out the chain stitch, considering that it took me a billion years to figure out the basic blanket stitch. Who knew that hand sewing could be fun?
